- ESCape: Weekly Educational Scholarship Conference
Weekly "brown bag" lunchtime scholarship sessions offered by the Office of Medical Education alternate between "Loving the Literature" and "Comforting Consultation." The goal is to stimulate thinking and help participants develop in their educational scholarship. Topics vary from week to week.

Annual Cardiovascular Research Institute Retreat
Faculty and trainees of the Cardiovascular Research Institute participate in a two-day, off-site conference. Selected members of the CVRI faculty present their work during plenary sessions and trainees discuss their projects during evening poster sessions.

- Biomedical Sciences Seminar Series
Under the auspices of the BMS Graduate Program, this program features weekly lectures by internationally renowned speakers in all areas of modern biology.
- Cardiovascular Research Institute Seminar Series
Series features invited speakers from outside the UCSF community on topics relevant to molecular cardiology, muscle biology, pulmonary development, and vascular biology.

- Pediatric Cardiology Journal Club
This is a monthly journal club in which pediatric cardiology fellows are paired with faculty coaches in preparing a recently published, hypothesis-driven study for presentation and discussion. The goal of this meeting is to educate fellows in the critical review of clinical literature and in assessing the value of new information in clinical decision-making.

- Signaling Club
This is a monthly meeting of UCSF laboratories studying intracellular signaling. Participating labs from programs throughout UCSF present projects nearing completion to principal investigators and trainees at all levels.

- Muscle Biology Group
This is a monthly meeting of UCSF and Stanford laboratories studying cardiac and skeletal myogenesis, that provides an opportunity for trainees to present work-in-progress.

This is a bi-monthly meeting of UCSF investigators, trainees, and invited guests from other institutions studying developmental and stem cell biology.

- Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program Retreat
Faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral trainees in participating labs attend a two-day, off-site retreat. Selected members of each of the components programs of BMS present their work during platform sessions during the day, and all trainees are invited to present posters describing their work in the evenings.
