Info is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Hwang received her medical degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center. Dr. Hwang was then in community practice in general pediatrics in the greater Seattle area. She cared for pediatric and adolescent patients at the Tulalip Indian Health Clinic and several clinic sites for Public Health Seattle and King County. She completed both clinical and research fellowships in adolescent medicine here at UCSF. Dr. Hwang’s clinical research focuses on the biology of cervical epithelial maturation in adolescent women; mucosal immunity; and STIs. Her interest areas include the use of colposcopic photography in research; analysis of digital images; and the prevention and treatment of STIs in adolescents, particularly Chlamydia trachomatis. Her research has received the Ortho McNeil Infectious Disease Scholar Award from the Western Society for Pediatric Research (2004-2005) and the New Investigator Award from the Society for Adolescent Medicine (2008). She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP); member of the Society for Adolescent Medicine, and a member of the Western Society for Pediatric Research. She currently cares for adolescent patients at the UCSF Adolescent and Young Adult Clinic and the UCSF Children’s Hospital.
